Not your typical post-apocalyptic world, Mortal Engines is a fast-paced read with plenty of action and adventure. The main characters have wonderful depth, the settings are intriguing, and the plot will keep any reader invested in the series.
I had to post something truly scary on Halloween, and this book scared the heck out of me. Now, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a fan of scary. But I’d heard some buzz about this mystery, and I decided to give it a go.
I wasn’t sure what to think about a book with an image of a reaper in red on the front cover. Yes, the artwork was glorious, but I tend to shy away from anything too horrific, especially anything graphic, and I didn’t know what to expect (Shusterman always leaves me guessing–an exceptional quality in any author!).
I will admit, I’m not a cat person. I had a few growing up (we had a barn), but I just like the energy of a dog, I guess. But I wasn’t sure how to tell my daughter “no” when she asked if I would read at least one of the Warrior novels.
